About

Founded in 1989, the Association represents well over 100 local residents and promotes the development of rail services and passenger facilities in Church Stretton.

The Association does this by actively engaging in discussions with relevent organisations and companies (e.g. local government, train operating companies etc.), with development and improvement at the forefront of those discussions.

We also:

  • Try to assist members with individual travel-related problems and/or complaints where possible.
  • Provide members with a newsletter twice a year, which keeps members up to date on discussions and achievements of the Association.
  • Hold an annual AGM which members can attend, where issues can be raised; we often have representatives from the industry at such meetings.
  • Have an annual talk, given by volunteers from the rail industry, which gives an insight into various aspects of railway operations around the country.

We recently reprinted and updated our booklet The Railway through The Strettons – The first 150 years. Please see the History page for more details.

Membership is only £3 per year, per household. If you are interested in joining, please get in touch via the Contact page.

By joining, you would also be increasing our membership, which helps to increase our overall voice, when we are lobbying for improvements.

As well as inviting new members, we are always keen to have members actively involved in the running of our group. This could involve assisting in the administration of the group, or liaising with third parties. Members who are familiar with the rail industry will be particularly welcomed. Please get in touch via the Contact page.
